The Role of Photography In Advertising

I was reading a post from Media College today and was pleased to realize that it supports everything I've been thinking (and blogging) about how photographs impact selling real estate.  In essence, when a home is listed for sale, the Realtor is advertising and promoting it using the MLS and other forms of online media, social networking sites, television, print ads and features, flyers, window displays, and several other methods.  The centre of the ad campaign always revolves around the photograph.  Why is that?

It centres around the photograph because in an instant our brains can take in thousands of pieces of information from a photo that words can never come close to describing.  The image we see before us triggers an association of some kind in our brains, wether good or bad depends on the image, but the point is that it "... must convey real feeling and evoke an emotional response."
